alyssa Oats

​A Rhode Island native, born and raised in West Warwick, I was introduced to the trombone at the age of 10 and quickly developed a passion for playing within my community. I studied music performance at URI and over the years have explored a variety of genres, from classical to R&B to blues, and of course my all-time favorite, jazz.

I have played with groups all around New England. Notably, I performed with the URI Big Band at the Newport Jazz Festival for a number of years. I search for and cherish every opportunity I have to engage with my instrument and lately find myself frequenting late night jam sessions at local bars and clubs. My continuing love for this music has brought me an outlet for self expression, personal growth, lasting friendships, and a budding career in the arts.
